In Memoriam Professor Luciano Vandelli

Τhe European Public Law Organization (EPLO) with deep sorrow announces the loss of its dear Colleague, Friend, brilliant academic and long-standing Member of the European Group of Public Law, Professor Luciano Vandelli, University of Bologna.

Professor Luciano Vandelli was Professor of Administrative Law and Local Entities Law at the Faculty of Law and then at the Department of Juridical Sciences of the University of Bologna, as well as at the School of Specialization in Public Administration Studies (SPISA).

Born in Bologna in 1946, during his career he carried out an extensive and deep legal analysis of the public, constitutional and administrative institutional system in southern European countries. He was the first author to publish a complete study on the autonomy system established by the Spanish constitution in 1978. His contribution allowed to understand the profound reasons of the current territorial, autonomous and local configuration of southern European countries, as well as possibilities and strategies for its reform based on the close relationship between autonomy and democracy. He was one of the promoters of the first agreement for the launch of the Erasmus program between the faculties of Law of the University of Barcelona and the University of Bologna: a collaboration which then extended to other faculties and universities.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences go to his family and friends.
