The Mayor of Athens visits the EPLO
The Mayor of Athens, Mr. Giorgos Kaminis paid an official visit to the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) premises, in the historic area of Athens, in Plaka, on Thursday, March 2, 2017.
The Director of the EPLO, Professor Spyridon Flogaitis, guided the Mayor around the fully renovated historic building of Polygnotou Street, where the EPLO is now situated.
Prof. Flogaitis, presented to Mayor Kaminis the latest activities of the EPLO mainly in the fields of education and training that are offered through its Academies and Institutes to a large number of students, civil servants, local government officials, lawyers, magistrates, diplomats, military officers, business executives and other professionals from all over the world.
Mr. Flogaitis emphasized upon the initiation of the new EPLO project, an international University School based in Athens, namely the European Law & Governance School (ELGS). The establishment of the School, he said, and its basis in Athens is a result and a decision of an international group of leading representatives of the European legal academia, led by the Constitutional Judge and former Prime Minister of Italy Professor Giuliano Amato.
"The aim of the ELGS, as Mr. Flogaitis underlined, is the formation of tomorrow’s European scientist, who belongs to Europe and promotes the European values. The creation of a new generation of socially responsible leaders and officials who will develop a common legal knowledge that respects diversity and who will promote unity, so that future generations will meet and forge in the future a new truly supranational European area”.
Mr. Kaminis stressed that it is a great honor for Athens City to host an international institution -the only international Organization headquartered in Greece- that has been formed by 16 countries, as well as an international school, the ELGS, which aspires to provide Europe in the near future with well-trained personnel to improve its operation.
