Ronny Abraham Named Slovenia's New Arbiter

Ronny Abraham, the president of the International Court of Justice, was on Tuesday appointed by the Slovenian government as the country's new representative in the Arbitration Tribunal.

This legal body will decide on the disputed territory between Slovenia and Croatia and the Gulf of Piran.

Announcing the decision, Prime Minister Miro Cerar said that all obstacles had now been removed for the arbitration tribunal to resume its work.

Born in Egypt in 1951, Ronny Abraham is a French international law expert who succeeded Gilbert Guillaume, currently the president of the Slovenia-Croatia arbitration tribunal, at the International Court of Justice in The Hague. He has served as the court's president since February 2015.

R. Abraham is also a long standing member of the European Group of Public Law, the Scientific Council of the European Public Law Organization and has represented France in numerous cases before international and European courts.
