Academic Exchange in Rome: Prof. Anikó Szalai Delivers Lectures on the Future of the Global Rule of Law
As part of the European Public Law Organization’s (EPLO) ongoing efforts to foster academic dialogue across Europe, Professor Anikó Szalai, Director of the Academy of European Public Law—a flagship initiative of the EPLO—visited Rome for a series of lectures and scholarly engagements.
During the week, Prof. Szalai delivered two thought-provoking lectures focused on the future of the global rule of law in a time of international conflict and transformation. These sessions engaged students and faculty in meaningful discussions about current global legal challenges and the evolving role of public law in protecting democratic values.
- On invitation by Professor Nicola Lupo, Prof. Szalai spoke at a research seminar hosted by LUISS Guido Carli University, a leading institution in legal and political studies.
- A second lecture was held at Roma Tre University, hosted by Professor Maria De Benedetto, drawing participation from scholars and students in the field of public and constitutional law.
These lectures form part of Prof. Szalai’s academic tour ahead of the upcoming session of the Academy of European Public Law, which will take place from 25 August to 13 September 2025 at the EPLO premises in Legrena, Greece. The 2025 session will feature general and specialized courses on the rule of law, human rights, and climate migration, complemented by guest lectures, debate sessions, field visits, and participation in the annual conference of the European Group of Public Law (EGPL).
Professor Szalai also met Professor Marco D'Alberti, Head of the Academy's Curatorium and Judge of the Constitutional Court of Italy.
