2nd BioMed-AI Summer School by the EPLO Institute for Sustainable Development and the Academy of Athens

The Institute for Sustainable Development of the EPLO is proud to co-organize with the Academy of Athens once again the BioMed-AI Summer School, now in its second edition! This time, in Lisbon, Portugal, from 11-13th September 2024, the Summer School will bring together experts to explore the intersection of artificial intelligence, biomedical research, healthcare, and ethics.

The program will feature a series of engaging lectures and interactive workshops designed to delve into the transformative impact of AI on healthcare. Participants will explore key topics such as personalized medicine, data analytics, and the ethical, legal, and social implications of AI technologies. This comprehensive approach aims to provide a deep understanding on the concept of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) in the context of advancing AI.

To this end, we are collaborating with Whatnext.law and the Nova School of Law, and we are honored to welcome distinguished speakers from diverse backgrounds, including the European Parliament, EHDS, and leading academic institutions in Europe and the US. Their invaluable perspectives will enrich the discussions and contribute to a nuanced exploration of the ethical and innovative dimensions of AI in healthcare.

Supported by endorsements from the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), and BBMRI-ERIC, this Summer School underscores the global importance of advancing AI responsibly whilst staying aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
