Second Steering Committee of the project “Support to the Institute of Public Administration of Jordan”
The second Steering Committee Meeting of the project “Support to the Institute of Public Administration of Jordan” was held on January 31, 2024, at the premises of the Institute of Public Administration (IPA) in Amman, Jordan.
Funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the project is implemented by the European Public Law Organization (EPLO), in partnership with the Italian National School of Administration (SNA).
The Steering Committee was chaired by H.E. the Director General of the IPA, Eng. Siham Al-Khawaldeh and attended by the Head of the Cooperation Section of the Italian Embassy in Amman, Mr. Giorgio Bassotti, the Deputy Head of the AICS Office in Amman, Mr. Roberto Solazzo, together with other officials of the AICS, IPA, SNA and EPLO.
The Steering Committee reviewed the progress of the project during the fourteen months of its implementation, from November 2022 until January 2024. The Committee noted the important results achieved by the project and emphasized its role in advancing the Public Sector Modernization Roadmap of Jordan.
The numerous results of the project include training over 1670 Jordanian Civil Servants, launching the IPA’s Leadership Program, developing Jordan’s first Diploma on Public Administration and Policy Making, developing the IPA’s Training Program on Digital Transformation, as well as a Training Program on Management of International Donor-Funded Projects, and supporting the creation of an Innovation Lab within the Institute.
The Committee Members praised the project’s ability to effectively support the IPA in fulfilling its mandate and implementing the measures foreseen by the Public Sector Modernization Roadmap.
The Director General of the IPA H.E. Siham Al-Khawaldeh thanked the Italian Embassy and the AICS for their continued and generous support and the Project Team for the excellent cooperation. The Head of the Cooperation Section of the Italian Embassy in Amman Mr. Giorgio Bassotti expressed appreciation for the productive collaboration between the IPA and the Project Team and underlined the project’s contribution to promoting digital transformation and innovation. The Deputy Head of the AICS Office Mr. Roberto Solazzo noted the considerable results of the project and reasserted the strong support of the Italian Cooperation to Public Administration reform in Jordan.
The Project “Support to the Institute of Public Administration of Jordan” aims to support the IPA in strengthening its institutional and organizational capacities to effectively carry out its mandate. In this view, the 18-month Project is providing technical assistance to enhance the IPA’s capacities, support to improve the IPA’s training programs, and training of trainers’ courses.
