EPLO/ISD Event on Creating Partnerships to Finance Sustainable Development for the Ocean at the One Sustainable Ocean Pavilion

Short Description of the Session at the One Sustainable Ocean Venue

The Institute for Sustainable Development of the European Public Law Organization, an international organization with Observer Status to the UN General Assembly, is hosting a side event at the UN Ocean Conference in collaboration with the Greek Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy and Forum Oceano and by involving participants from the Portuguese Republic and the Hellenic Republic on Creating Partnerships to Finance Sustainable Development for the Ocean. The event will bring together speakers from different backgrounds (international organizations, governments, the business sector, the private equity sector, sovereign investment funds, and NGOs) that will share their expertise linking topics discussed during the UN Ocean Conference, with the needs and modalities to mobilize sustainable investments through Sustainability Assessment, Best Practices and Technological Innovation, aiming at achieving Sustainable Blue Economy Development in the context of appropriate Marine Spatial Planning in line with the Law of the Sea.

Short Description of the Verimpact Session at the One Sustainable Ocean

Verimpact: An ESG Assessment Tool for Sustainable Blue Investments

The session will focus on the presentation of the Verimpact ESG online tool that can be used to assess and evaluate sustainable blue investments. In particular, the methodology the tool is based on will be presented along with a demo on its functionalities and how it can assist financing the blue economy through its dedicated focus on specific indicators that can enhance an investment and be ESG-compliant. A recent project on assessing the natural capital of a region using ESG criteria and thus rendering the region investment-ready and ESG-compliant will then be elaborated on.
