Circular Gaia Symposium 2025

The Circular Economy and Climate Institute of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) successfully held the Circular Gaia Symposium 2025, a two-day international conference dedicated to advancing dialogue on sustainability, climate resilience, and the circular economy.

The symposium took place on Thursday, 2 October 2025, at the historic Zappeion Megaron in Athens, and continued on Friday, 3 October 2025, at the EPLO premises within the Roman Agora in Plaka.

The Circular Gaia Symposium once again brought together leading policymakers, experts, academics, and representatives of civil society, reaffirming its role as a transformative platform for promoting circularity as a cornerstone of sustainable development. In alignment with the EU Green Deal, the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the UNFCCC, and the Paris Agreement, the symposium addressed energy transition, circular cities, innovation, sustainable tourism, cultural heritage, and the blue economy, while also highlighting the importance of inclusive participation and circular diplomacy.

Distinguished speakers included government ministers, EU Commissioners, Members of the European Parliament, academics, industry leaders, and cultural representatives. The symposium also featured the presentation of the Athens Declaration on culture-based climate action, the Circular Gaia Awards, and concluded with forward-looking discussions on circular leadership.

The symposium was organized under the leadership of George Kremlis, Director of the EPLO Circular Economy & Climate Institute and Ambassador of the EPLO to Bulgaria, and Professor Spyridon Flogaitis, President of the EPLO Board of Directors and Director of the EPLO.

With its 2025 edition, the Circular Gaia Symposium continued to build momentum for bold climate action, regional cooperation, and the integration of circular principles into policy, business, and society.
