Vacancy for “Project Technical expert”

The EPLO implements a large number of programs funded by the European Union and other international donors, assisting governments and institutions around the world. The main areas of intervention comprise: governance, the rule of law, human rights, public administration, democratization, legislative approximation to the EU acquis, migration and sustainable development. The position is located within the Dept. of Technical co-operation of EPLO. The candidate will be involved in the HORIZON Europe Project “Circular Systemic Solution for Sustainable Tourism in European Islands by Movable Plant on a Boat and Co-Creation with Island Stakeholders” – REBOAT.
ReBoat aims at co-creating an active and conscious island demand for creative solutions of recycling and upcycling waste objects and materials, primarily focusing on plastics and textile, coming from the local environment. The overall objective of the project is to design, develop and demonstrate a novel decentralized systemic circular solution, exploiting a mobile, modular, sorting, recycling and reprocessing plant on a Boat. The proposed solution will handle waste generation peaks in islands on demand, locally transforming waste into new products meeting the needs of island citizens and tourists. Three complementary pilots -in three European islands, namely Ionian (GR), Eolian (IT) and Azores (PT)- will co-create new objects, spaces and experiences through an Island Participatory Approach supported by Collaborative Digital tools, the Boat infrastructure and enhanced by newly designed Tourism Packages offering new enriching, conscious and sustainable holidays to Europeans.
Responsibilities
The candidate is expected to:
- support the pilot setup, the development of the validation plan and the definition of open environment requirements
- support stakeholder engagement through active outreach to relevant project stakeholders
- support the design of innovative tourism packages and attractions for supporting on-island validation and future operations of the movable plant
- contribute to the customization of the designed tourism packages for the specific island characteristics
- assist in the set-up of the website and IT platforms and IT tools that will be used in ReBOAT
- support the operational management of the boat and the tourism packages
- assist in the description of pilot related lessons learnt.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- University degree in environmental, engineering, IT and/or related sciences from an accredited academic institution
Experience
- At least 6 years of professional experience in projects (co-)funded by the European Union related to sustainable green and blue growth and circular economy
- at least 4 years’ experience in website set-up and IT platforms’ set-up, used for EU projects
Languages
- Fluency (oral and written) in English
