Position Title: Project Coordinator/Capitalization Expert

The EPLO implements a large number of programs funded by the European Union and other international donors, assisting governments and institutions around the world. The main areas of intervention comprise governance, the rule of law, human rights, public administration, democratization, legislative approximation to the EU acquis, migration and sustainable development. The position is located within the Dept. of Technical co-operation of EPLO. The candidate will be involved in the HORIZON Europe Project “Circular Systemic Solution for Sustainable Tourism in European Islands by Movable Plant on a Boat and Co-Creation with Island Stakeholders” – REBOAT.

ReBoat aims to co-creating an active and conscious island demand for creative solutions for recycling and upcycling waste objects and materials, primarily focusing on plastics and textiles, coming from the local environment. The overall objective of the project is to design, develop and demonstrate a novel decentralized systemic circular solution, exploiting a mobile, modular, sorting, recycling and reprocessing plant on a Boat. The proposed solution will handle waste generation peaks in islands on demand, locally transforming waste into new products that meet the needs of island citizens and tourists. Three complementary pilots -in three European islands, namely Ionian (GR), Eolian (IT) and Azores (PT)-  will co-create new objects, spaces and experiences through an Island Participatory Approach supported by Collaborative Digital tools, the Boat infrastructure and enhanced by newly designed Tourism Packages offering new enriching, conscious and sustainable holidays to Europeans.

Responsibilities

The candidate is expected to:

  • Monitor all EPLO project activities/deliverables
  • be responsible for the communication of EPLO with the Consortium and the Leading Beneficiary and the WP leaders
  • be responsible for Reporting of the project progress
  • support stakeholder engagement through active outreach to relevant project stakeholders
  • assist in the facilitation of liaison activities with relevant stakeholders enabling pilot’s acceptance in local communities and awareness raising targeting tourism eco-system in the islands
  • assist in the development of the protocols and agreements between the involved stakeholders
  • assist in events’ reporting
  • assist in the development of the replicability strategy in other EU Follower Islands
  • assist the project capitalization activities

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • University degree in environmental, engineering and/or related sciences from an accredited academic institution

Experience

  • At least 8 years of professional experience in the management and implementation of projects (co-)funded by the European Union related to sustainable green and blue growth and circular economy
  • at least 6 years’ experience in EU funded projects related with capitalization and mainstreaming of project results into policies
  • at least 4 years’ experience in stakeholders’ engagement & co-creation schemes
  • at least 4 years’ experience in events, workshops, seminars’ organization

Languages

  • Fluency (oral and written) in English

  • Team Management and Leadership Skills: Capable of promptly and effectively monitoring, coordinating and communicating strategic objectives.
  • Professionalism: Knowledge and understanding of concepts and approaches relevant to particular functional area. Conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments and achieving results.
  • Communication: Excellent oral and written communication, writing and presentation skills. Listening and communicating clearly and effectively, adapting delivery to audience.
  • Planning and Organizing: Setting clear and achievable goals consistent with agreed priorities for self and others.
