The EPLO is seeking an Accountant to support the Office of Office of Planning, Budget and Accounts Controller (OPBAC) and its Director to manage the day-to-day workload of the EPLO’s financial activities. Extensive reference to EPLO’s activities may be found at the relevant website: www1.eplo.int and the websites linked to it. The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Preparation of  journal entries and general ledger operations in accordance with Greek Accounting Standards
  • Management of daily accounting and tax issues
  • Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
  • Conduct of monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
  • Preparation and monitoring of files for regular, tax and extraordinary audits
  • Oversight of the Bookkeeping function and ensure compliance with the tax practices
  • Participation in the preparation of the financial statements
  • Active membership in the Financial Community to ensure that the complex factors behind the analysis of the business are understood and that the appropriate financial analysis and management analysis is provided to the leadership team proactively
  • Active participation and support on organizational changes
  • 1st class accountant signature   
  • Monitoring and implementation of EU projects’ budgets
  • Collaboration with external auditors

The candidate will be expected to work closely with the hierarchy of the Financial Department and all Divisions, Academies and Institutes of the EPLO, prestigious external collaborators and experts, funding agencies and institutions, EPLO hierarchy and staff, and to perform other duties, as requested/assigned by the EPLO Management.

Competencies

Professionalism: relevant academic background; practical experience in accounting departments of legal persons; advanced PC skills and Microsoft office, comfort using electronic sources on the internet and other databases; ability to apply good judgment in the context of assignments given; ability to plan own work and manage conflicting priorities. Candidates should have a university degree with prior relevant working experience. Any additional relevant degrees are desirable.

Communications – Fluency in the English language. Any other language skills are a benefit.
