Vacancy for Librarian at the EPLO premises in Legrena

The EPLO is seeking to appoint a Librarian to run the EPLO Library located in Legrena, Sounion. The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • selecting, developing, cataloguing and classifying library resources
  • answering readers' enquiries
  • using library systems and specialist computer applications
  • liaising with departmental academic staff, external organizations and suppliers
  • ensuring that library services meet the needs of particular groups of users (e.g. staff, postgraduate students, disabled students)
  • supporting independent research and learning
  • developing IT facilities
  • assisting readers to use computer equipment, conduct literature searches etc
  • promoting the library's resources to users

The candidate will be expected to liaise regularly with the hierarchy of the Education programs and relevant Academies and Institutes, prestigious external collaborators and experts, funding agencies and institutions, EPLO hierarchy and staff, and to perform other duties, as requested/assigned by the EPLO Management.

Competencies

Professionalism: relevant academic background; practical experience in librarian services; advanced PC skills and Microsoft office, comfort using electronic sources on the internet and other databases; ability to apply good judgment in the context of assignments given; ability to plan own work and manage conflicting priorities. Candidates should have a a relevant undergraduate degree with prior relevant working experience. Any additional relevant degrees are desirable.

Communications – Fluency in the English and Greek languages. Any other language skills are a benefit.

Candidates should reside in Greece or be prepared to relocate to Greece. The posts will operate out of the EPLO facilities in Legraina, the latter of which is 64 km outside of Athens.

A few words about the EPLO

The EPLO is an international organization dedicated to the creation and dissemination of knowledge in the area of Public Law lato sensu and Governance, and the promotion of European values for a better generation of lawyers and democratic institutions worldwide.

The EPLO was established in 2007 as an International Organization in Athens, Greece. The European Public Law Organization in over 20 years of activity, has developed, organized, promoted and supported more than 200 educational, research, training, institution building and other activities and has provided assistance to democratic institutions in more than 70 countries. The Organization’s work involves four pillars of activity, namely, researcheducation & training, publications and technical cooperation, each perpetually contributing to the improvement of the other through an integrated approach.  Within the education and training pillar it operates several programs and training activities among which the European Law & Governance School a University school with the aim and mission to offer excellence in tertiary levels of Education in the fields of European Law and Governance.
