H.E. the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Procopiοs Pavlopoulos awarded diplomas to selected students of Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) who participated in the training program organized for the third year by the Academy of Transparency and Human Rights of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO).

The awarding ceremony took place within the context of a conference titled "The influence of ancient Greek philosophy in Law of Europe and Russia" organized under the auspices of the President of the Hellenic Republic by the "Academy of Transparency and Human Rights" and the "Institute of Humanities and Culture Nikos Svoronos" in collaboration with RANEPA, on November 25, 2016 at the EPLO premise in Plaka, Athens.

In his speech the President stressed that “Europe, as an institution, is founded on three pillars: the first one is Ancient Greece which projects the Spirit, the Freedom of Man as a value, as an entity. The second is Rome which has left as a heritage the concept of the State and its institutions. Thirdly, Christianity which projects the sense of humanitarianism. All these are interconnected and it is not possible to refer to them without speaking about the influence of Ancient Greece to modern legal reality and to Philosophy. An influence which transcended the centuries of human thought and has reached Europe and certainly Russia".

The event which coincided with the “Year of Aristotle” and the “Greek-Russian Year” was divided into two parts:

-The first, chaired by Professor Kalliopi (Kelly) Bourdara, along with the speakers: Professor Dmitry Dozhdev, Dean of Law, RANEPA and Professor Giannis Tassopoulos, University of Athens.
-The second included the speakers: Professor Anton Mikhailov, PhD, Department of Theory of Law, RANEPA and Athena Demopoulou, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Law, University of Athens.

The speakers mainly focused on the influence of Aristotle’s thought in shaping the law across Europe and through Europe to most countries of the planet.

The Conference was part of the Training program that the Academy of Transparency and Human Rights of the EPLO is organizing for selective students of the Presidential Academy on November 20-28, 2016 entitled "International Law and Diplomacy"

RANEPA is the first educational institution of Russia which has joined the Board of the European Public Law Organization, while this program was launched in 2013 and is repeated this year for the third time.
