Prof. Werner Meng passed away

It is with deep regret and sadness that the EPLO announces that Professor Werner Meng passed away last Friday, July 1, in Germany, after a long battle with cancer.

Meng, inter alia Member of the European Group of Public Law, had been actively participating as a speaker and moderator in many conferences and events organized by the EPLO the last few years.

During the last Annual Reunions of the Group in Spetses all participants had the chance to appreciate Meng’s dynamic attitude -and always positive spirit- not only as a speaker and commentator at the Conference but also as a colleague and friend.

Meng, born in February 1948 in Mainz, was a German jurist and Director of the Europa-Institut since 1999 as well as the holder of the Chair of Public Law, International Law and European Law at Saarland University of Germany and a visiting professor in many Universities worldwide, among them the Panteion-University of Athens (Greece).

We send our most sincere condolences to his wife and family.
