Judge, Mr Dimitris Raikos elected in the UN Appeals Tribune

Judge Mr. Dimitris Raikos was elected on 11.18.2015 for a seven-year term in the United Nations Appeals Tribunal, which was established in 2008 in New York. This is the first time that a Greek Judge has been chosen by the UN General Assembly on merit following a hard competitive process as a Judge in the United Nations Appeals Tribunal, leaving out influential personalities of the legal world, who had been proposed by countries such as France, Canada and the Great Britain.

Mr Raikos currently serves as the President of the Hellenic Single Public Procurement Authority, selected by the Greek Parliament in September 2013. He is Presiding Judge at the Administrative Court of Appeals (having served as Chairman of the Administrative Court of Piraeus), Associate Professor of Administrative Law at the Law School of the Democritus University of Thrace, while in 2013 he was seconded at the Special Legal Service of the Ministry of Justice. He has developed a diverse scientific activity and has produced rich writing material while since 2001 he has been teaching at the National School of Judges.

The appointment of the Greek Judge in the above office constitutes, except of a highly valued recognition of his personality, a great honor for Greece and the Greek law system but also for the European Public Law Organization, as Mr Raikos is a member of the Scientific Council of the Institute for Justice and Development of the European Public Law Organization and actively participates in its activities.

The European Public Law Organization congratulates Mr Dimitris Raikos on his election and wishes him every success in his service.
