EPLO Welcomes Tsinghua University Delegation

The EPLO Welcomes Tsinghua University Delegation in Plaka to Strengthen EU–China Academic and Cultural Ties

The EPLO had the honor of welcoming a group of students from Weiyang College, Tsinghua University of China, to its facilities in Plaka on July 31, 2025, as part of the ongoing collaboration between EPLO and Tsinghua’s Global Competence Center.

During the meeting, special reference was also made to the establishment of The European Institute for the Study of Chinese Law, Governance, and Civilization (EISCL). The Institute functions as a central nexus for academic inquiry, education, and scholarly collaboration between West and East. It is dedicated to cultivating a comprehensive understanding of China's legal, governance, and cultural frameworks, while examining their interconnections with Europe and the broader international community.

Following a warm welcome by Ms. Panoraia Spiliopoulou, Director General for Education, a brief exchange of views took place on how Europe and China seek to engage in dialogue within a framework of cooperation and mutual exchange of information. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Vasilis Trigas, Assistant Prof. of Global Affairs, Schwarzman College, Tsinghua University, and enriched by the insightful contributions of Mr. Antonis Papagiannidis, Managing Editor of Greek Economic Review, who addressed the future of Europe–China relations in today’s increasingly geopolitical context; Ambassador Dionyssios Kalamvrezos, who provided an overview of EU–China relations; and Associate Professor of ELGS, Dr. phil. Dora Papadopoulou, who explored how Europe and China can learn from each other's mistakes and collaborate, with Artificial Intelligence governance serving as a key medium for mutual understanding and development.
