M.Pikramenos is the new President of the Hellenic Council of State

The European Public Law Organization and the Institute for Justice and Growth are happy and proud to announce the appointment of a very highly esteemed member of the EPLO family, Mr Michael Pikramenos, by the Prime Minister and the Cabinet of Ministers, as the new President of the Hellenic Supreme Administrative Court, the Hellenic Council of State.

Mr. Pikramenos is a renowned Supreme Justice, who has been studying the problems of the Greek judicial system for years and has been boldly expressing and presenting permanent reformist positions in the public dialogue in the critical area of Justice. He is, at the same time, a Professor of Public Law at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with an excellent written work record, with several interventions in Greek and international fora on various issues concerning the problems of justice and the reforms required. He has also served as the Director General of the National School of Judges (2013-2016) and has been for long the Representative of Greece at the European Commission on the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ).

Mr Pikramenos has been a highly esteemed and active member of the Scientific Council of the Institute for Justice and Growth since its very beginning, back in the 2015, as well as of the Institute for Privacy Law, Data Protection and Technology and has been one of the key note speakers or moderators in many of our Institutes important events.

We warmly congratulate him and we wish him all the best at this new beginning in order to achieve, as he personally stated after his selection, “… to strengthen the institutions of independence and accountability of judges and also to improve the effectiveness of the administration of justice for the benefit of the citizen, the society and democracy".
