Event on:General Data Protection Regulation

The event "General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR): Five years on" organized by the Institute for Privacy Law, Data Protection and Technology (IPL) of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) was successfully held on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at the premises of the EPLO in Plaka, at the Roman Agora.

The Institute for Privacy Law, Data Protection and Technology (IPL) has been established by the European Public Law Organization with the aim to advance and promote knowledge and policy in the field of privacy and data protection law, technology, society and fundamental rights.

We were honored to host as key note speakers who contributed to the scientific discussion with their presentations and kept undiminished the audience's attention:

- Mr Konstantinos Menoudakos, Honorary Chairman of the Council of State, President of Hellenic Data Protection Authority (HDPA), 

- Ms Irene Loizidou Nikolaidou, Commissioner for Personal Data Protection of Cyprus, Vice President of the European Data Protection Board (EDPB), 

- Professor Georgios Giannopoulos, Deputy Professor of Information Technology Law, Director of the Information Technology Law Laboratory, Law School, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, 

- Philip Mitletton, Lawyer, Member of the Permanent Scientific Committee for Data Protection of the Ministry of Justice. 

The event as well as the very interesting discussion that followed was moderated by Ms Lilian Mitrou, Professor, University of the Aegean, Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering. President of the Institute for Privacy Law, Data Protection and Technology (IPL).

Welcome speeches were addressed by Professor Spyridon Flogaitis, Director of the EPLO, as well as by Mr Nicolas Kanellopoulos, President of the Institute for Justice and Growth and Executive Director of the Institute for Privacy Law, Data Protection and Technology (IPL).

The event as well as the European Public Law Organization was honored by esteemed representatives of the legal and academic community, information technology scientists as well as Data Protection Officers (DPO) of various public and private organizations, public officers, university students etc.
