Vacancy for full time researcher for the EPLO Branch in Cascais, Portugal

EPLO is currently recruiting a full time Researcher for its Branch in Cascais, Portugal. Under the supervision of the Director of the Institute for the Global Rule of Law, you will inter alia:

  • Prepare, organize, and report on all research outputs and project activities, such as The Rule of Law yearly report, as well as events, workshops, trainings, academic teaching, regional consultations, and publications;
  • Assist the Rule of Law of Commission in its mission and activities;
  • Assist in the implementation of academic and training activities and events of the Institute for the Global Rule of Law and the European Law and Governance School in Portugal;
  • Conduct research, desk reviews and liaise with external experts and consultants to draft, co-develop, review, and finalize all research and policy outputs particularly on topics of rule of law and democratic governance;

Required:

  • Master’s or PhD in Law, preferably, but not exclusively, in Constitutional Law, Comparative Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, EU Law, Political Science;
  • Previous experience in research projects;
  • Familiarity with the following thematic areas: rule of law; democratic governance; democratic erosion.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and a strong sense of thoroughness, accuracy, and consistency;
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint);
  • Good communication skills;
  • Ability to work as part of a diverse team;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; Additional language(s) would be appreciated.

Preferred:

  • Experience in academic research in an international and diverse environment;

The researcher shall be staff member of the EPLO (www1.eplo.int) and therefore international civil servant.His/Hers net annual salary may be between 18.000 and 24.000 Euro, while health insurance will be provided as plus.
