The EPLO implements a large number of programs funded by the European Union and other international donors, assisting governments and institutions around the world. The main areas of intervention comprise: governance, the rule of law, human rights, public administration, democratization, legislative approximation to the EU acquis, migration and sustainable development.
The position is located within the Circular Economy and Climate Change Institute of EPLO, which is responsible for the promotion of circular and sustainable practices, climate and environmental diplomacy and mainstreaming of circular economy in all policy areas.
The candidate will be involved in the Interreg Euro-MED Governance project “Dialogue4Tourism” – Institutional Dialogue on Sustainable Tourism and Governance in the Euro-Med area, in which the Circular Economy and Climate Change Institute of EPLO participates as a partner.
The overall objective of the project is to increase the coordination level and institutional capacity of public authorities, multi-level bodies, Programmes, strategies and initiatives in the Mediterranean aiming to transform tourism into greener, smarter and more resilient.
Core Functions and Responsibilities
Core Function
Support EPLO to reinforce the green and digital transition of tourism and mainstream circular economy practices in the sector by facilitating increased capacities, institutional dialogue and improved coordination mechanisms. The candidate will represent a liaison among private and public tourism related stakeholders.
Responsibilities
The candidate is expected to:
- assist in identifying the business sector upskilling and reskilling needs related to sustainable tourism
- support stakeholder management through active outreach to relevant stakeholders and engaging them in the project’s network
- assist in the facilitation of communication and liaison activities with relevant stakeholders enabling a multidisciplinary and multi sectoral dialogue for sustainable tourism
- support the facilitation of public-private-partnerships in the tourism sector
- assist in communication activities
- assist in capacity building activities
- keep abreast of market, social and economic trends
- assist in drafting project and programme related documents, concepts, etc.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Experience
- At least 8 years of professional experience in the tourism/leisure related sector
- At least 8 years in managerial positions (director, project manager etc.) in private/public sector
- Familiarity and professional experience in the areas of sustainable development
- Familiarity and professional experience in projects funded by the European Union will be an asset
Education
- University degree
- Computer proficiency in standard software applications (MS Office, etc.)
Languages
- Fluency (oral and written) in English is required

- Liaison skills including negotiating skills, developing and fostering relationships, getting people to understand others' points of view
- Team Management and Leadership Skills: Ability to guide large groups effectively. Capable of promptly and effectively monitoring, coordinating and communicating strategic objectives.
- Professionalism: Knowledge and understanding of concepts and approaches relevant to particular functional area. Ability to apply judgment in the context of assignments given, take initiative, plan own work and manage conflicting priorities. Conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments and achieving results.
- Communication: Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills. Listens and communicates clearly and effectively, adapting delivery to audience.
- Planning and Organizing: Sets clear and achievable goals consistent with agreed priorities for self and others.
