Vacancy for full time researchers for the EPLO Branch in Cascais, Portugal

EPLO is currently recruiting up to two full time Researchers for its Branch in Cascais – Portugal. Under the supervision of the Director of the Institute for the Global Rule of Law, you will inter alia:

  • Prepare, organize, and report on all research outputs and project activities, such as The Rule of Law yearly report, as well as events, workshops, trainings, academic teaching, regional consultations, and publications;
  • Assist the Rule of Law of Commission in its mission and activities;
  • Assist in the implementation of academic and training activities and events of the Institute for the Global Rule of Law and the European Law and Governance School in Portugal;
  • Conduct research, desk reviews and liaise with external experts and consultants to draft, co-develop, review, and finalize all research and policy outputs particularly on topics of rule of law and democratic governance;

Required:

  • Master’s or PhD in Law, preferably, but not exclusively, in Constitutional Law, Comparative Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, EU Law, Political Science;
  • Previous experience in research projects;
  • Familiarity with the following thematic areas: rule of law; democratic governance; democratic erosion.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and a strong sense of thoroughness, accuracy, and consistency;
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint);
  • Good communication skills;
  • Ability to work as part of a diverse team;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; Additional language(s) would be appreciated.

Preferred:

  • Experience in academic research in an international and diverse environment;

The researcher(s) shall be staff members of the EPLO (www1.eplo.int) and therefore international civil servants. Their net annual salary may be between 18.000 and 24.000 Euro, while health insurance will be provided as plus.
