Conference on the Law of the Sea

A timely conference on the “Law of the Sea” with the participation of eminent personalities from the academic and policy field will take place on Tuesday the10th of November, at 14.00, at the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in Athens.

The Conference on the topic of "The Law of the Sea and the Mediterranean area: geopolitical dimension and sub-legal aspects" is co-organized by the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) along with the Law School of International Studies Department of the University of Athens and the Department of Political Science and International Relations of the University of Peloponnese.

The conference which is also supported by the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry, consists of three sessions titled as follows: "The geopolitical dimension and resolution of conflicts", "The geopolitical dimension and individual sub-legal aspects" and "The political dimensions of the Law of the Sea in the Eastern Mediterranean".

Under these titles one can encounter a multitude of timely and complex issues such as the delimitation of the continental shelf and the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), the energy installations in the sea,environmental and fishing protection zones, the control in navigation of foreign vessels, the search and rescue issue, the issue of immigrants etc. for which a valid scientific approach is of special need and interest.
