High-Level Side Event by EPLO at the UN Geneva Human Rights Council

As the conflict in Sudan continues to escalate into one of the most devastating humanitarian crises of our time, the European Public Law Organization (EPLO), through its Permanent Observer Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, will be hosting a high-level side event on the margins of the 59th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council. The event, entitled "Sudan in Crisis: Voices from the Rubble for Justice and Peace," will take place on Thursday, July 2, 2025, from 12:00 to 13:00 at Room XXIV, Palais des Nations, Geneva.

The event will bring together a distinguished panel of experts, policymakers, and humanitarian actors to shed light on the deepening crisis in Sudan and its far-reaching implications for regional peace and security. The panel will be focusing on the urgent need for a coordinated international response to address the complex humanitarian, political, and security challenges caused by the conflict.

Key issues to be discussed will include:

  • The consequences of the Sudanese conflict for regional stability and cross-border dynamics
  • The urgent need to scale up humanitarian operations in response to famine, displacement, and health emergencies
  • The role of the international community, UN Member States, and regional organizations in peacebuilding and conflict prevention

The event aims to mobilize support among UN Member States, humanitarian agencies, security bodies, regional partners, and civil society, and to foster a stronger global commitment to addressing both the immediate humanitarian crisis and the long-term peacebuilding agenda.
