RestorativeJusticein cases of domestic violenceinfoTECHNICAL COOPERATION REGIONAL FOCUSThe project is co-funded by the European Commission and is implemented by the Verwey-Jonker Institute of The Netherlands (leader), the Independent Academic Research Studies IARS ofUK, Institut für Konfliktforschung IKF of Austria, Landsorganisationen for Kvindekrisecentre LOKK of Denmark, the Finnish Ministry of Justice, the European Forum for Restorative Justice EFRJ and the EPLO.The EPLO is a partner in the project “Restorative Justice in Cases of Domestic Violence: Best Practice Examples between Increasing Mutual Understanding and Awareness of Speci c Protection Needs” aimed at generating relevant knowledge on practices of restorative justice and identifying criteria for offering restorative justice casesof domestic violence so that victims can bene t to the maximum extent and in accordance with the new EUThe project110 ACTIVITY REPORT 2016Victim’s Directive. The main objective is thegeneration of relevant knowledge on practicesof restorative justice, including clarifying theregulation of restorative justice/mediation andpractical approaches concerning domesticviolence in different European countries, intothe needs of victims of domestic violenceconcerning restorative justice and gettinginsight into the conditions under whichrestorative justice is possible in cases ofdomestic violence. The result will be a guide and manual with a set of rules derived from an evidence-based and practice-based research. Researchers and practitioners from different countries will meet regularly to develop this European guide and manual. A network of practitioners will be set up to increase mutual understanding between different judicial systems and restorative justice practices in the Member States.
