Τhe launch conference of World Bank’s JUSTPAL that was organized by the EPLO in Athens.The successfulcollaboration with the World BankCooperation with theWorld BankThe very successful collaboration of the EPLO with the World Bank (WB) continued overthe last three years and the overall relation was cultivated, particularly with the Of ce of the Legal vice Presidency, by establishing contact with the WB representations in Europe and by actively participating in WB’s annual meetings and events.Among others, it is discussing the preparation of joint WB-EPLO pilot project proposals, the secondment of EPLO interns and/or studentsof the EPLO’s European Law and Governance School to the WB, and the engagement of World Bank staff and of cials as trainers and professors in the EPLO’s educational programs and activities (most notably the European Law and Governance School, but also its summer schools and other programs).The EPLO and the World Bank have also agreed to collaborate in view of publications: key EPLO publications shall be made accessible to a broad audience via the WB-IMF joint library, EPLO’s electronic publications and reports, mainly project deliverables, shall be advertised, as well as information on programs, initiatives, and the EPLO will be available to contribute to key publications of the World Bank. In 2011 the EPLO organized for the World Bank the launch conference of the Justice Sector Peer-AssistedLearning (JUSTPAL) Network, a cooperative peer- based learning and knowledge-sharing resource on justice issues for practitioners in countries of Europe and Central Asia.Following this very successful collaboration, the Director visited the World Bank headquarters in Washington, D.C. in 2011 where he participated in very promising meetings with high ranking World Bank of cers, including, among others, Ms. Anne-Marie Leroy, Senior Vice Presidentand General Counsel, who also later on cameto Athens and delivered a lecture in the Manuel Chrysoloras Lecture Series in May 2012. In 2012 the EPLO became a partner in the World Bank’s Global Forum on Law, Justice and Development (GFLJD), having endorsed the Joint Declaration and Statement of Commitment on Supporting the Global Forum on Law, Justice and Development. The EPLO is involved in the following three Thematic Working Groups: (1) Justice Reform Rule of Law Reform, (2) Governance and Anti- corruption and (3) Empowerment.Prof. Chrysoula Moukiou, Ass. Professor of Administrative Law, Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, has been appointedas new representative to the GFLJD and successfully represented the EPLO in the World Bank’s Law, Justice and Development Week withACTIVITY REPORT 2016 61
