Kind initiative to entrustthis School to GreeceMessage by H.E. The President of the Hellenic Republic Mr. Procopios PavlopoulosA message by H.E. The President ofthe Hellenic Republic Mr. Procopios Pavlopoulos was read in the ceremony at the Quirinale by the Director of the EPLO Prof. Spyridon Flogaitis."Mister President, Dear Friend,It is with great pleasure that I welcome your initiative to organize this special ceremony for the European Public Law Organization and,in particular, its most signi cant educational creation, the European Law and Governance School; a project that, I am convinced, will play a very important role within the European Union and even beyond it.Allow me, if I may, to recall that the European Public Law Organization, this international Organization which currently brings together fteen Member States, is a perfect exampleof what our States, Greece and Italy, can accomplish when they work together to create useful, even innovative, institutions. Italy isthe rst State after Greece that rati ed the International Treaty establishing the Organization, placing its trust in a project that, no matter how many more States may accede to it - and our hope is that it will soon include all European States -, will always carry the indelible seal ofthe Adriatic and the Ionian Sea, as symbols ofunity of our peoples, their expectations and their visions of the future.I would like to underline once more emphatically the contribution of speci c personalities from Your great country, Mister President, in the creation and development of the European Law and Governance School; I would especially like to emphasize the contributionof Professor, Constitutional Court Judge and former Prime Minister Giuliano Amato, the man who conceived the idea of the European Law and Governance School, developed it and turned it in practice into a real institution, sothat we can today present it to the international community; but also I would like to highlightthe contribution of all those - such as Professor and former Constitutional Court Judge Sabino Cassese, Professor Mario Chiti and the other representatives of the bright Italian legalthought - who have entrusted this School to Greece; a country that, despite all her problems, symbolizes, together with Rome, the values and the institutions of contemporary Europe.Mister President,I thank You sincerely for Your kind initiative to place the European Law and Governance School under Your auspices and I assure You that Greece will live up to Your trust".Prof. S.
