Anthony, Academy DirectorΤhe Academy of European Public Law, the protagonist inthe teaching of European public law for over twenty years, continued its pursuit of excellence from 2014-2016.Founded in 1995, the Academy is the oldest and most esteemed educational establishment of the EPLO, as well as of its predecessor, the European Public Law Center. It is also the most representative of the EPLO’s mandate. The Academy enjoys a reputation as the primary destination for scholarship in public law within Europe’s dynamic setting. The EPLO has been intertwined with the development of European Public Law and the emergence of the EU as a new legal order in international law. This knowledge is re ected in the educational program of the Academy.For those interested in furthering their knowledge and skills of the diverse reasoning and philosophy engrained in various national public law systems of European countries, the Academy offers study sessions leading to a Certi cate of Attendance in European Public Law and to the Intensive International Master of Laws (I.I.LL.M.) in European Public Law. The sessions coincide with the annual conference of the European Group of Public Law, the EGPL Annual Reunion, which takes place in Greece during September, where its members meet to present and discuss their ndings on a collectively chosen topic regarding public law.The Academy students are given the opportunity to attend the EGPL Annual Reunion and therefore come into contact with the most advanced concepts and viewpoints in European publiclaw. Additionally, the students have the opportunity to meet the individuals behind them. This is a unique advantage in terms of the students’ academic and professional development.In its 22 years of existence, more than 500 students have graduated from the Academy. They are currently enjoying prestigious careers in academia, the public, private and international development sectors, and advocacy.In addition to its primary annual session, the Academy, inpartnership with the University members of the EPLO, organizes various sessions addressed to the students of partner Universities.76 ACTIVITY REPORT 2016
