An act of faith in ourselves and in the Europe of tomorrowABOUT USNEWSProf. Giuliano Amato, Honorary President of the Board of Trustees of the ELGSProf. Giuliano Amato, Honorary Presidentthe common institutions and a few disciplines here and there depending on what the professor knew. Today such a teaching is no longer conceivable, for the simple, but essential, reason that what came to existence is a European Industrial Law,a European Environmental Law, a European Administrative Law, a European Competition Law, which does not add to the national laws, but even requires them to comply with it”.And Prof. Giuliano Amato concluded: “Today,a student who wants to work in a European institution, who wants to work in a companythat operates in Europe, who wants to work in a national administration that has to do with Europe, must be trained on European Law, and therefore we invented this bold reversal: the heart, the main skeleton of the courses, is made of European courses, to which each student, according to his/ her own nationality, adds a share of national law, which he/she will study at one of the universities that are af liated with us. But beyond such values, there is a fabric which is actually a fabric of rules, judgments, disciplines, entire sectors, jurisprudence, which made history and which are shared"."When I was a young professor”, Prof. Amato said, “the list of the disciplines was a list of national disciplines and in addition there was Community Law. Therefore in our Law Schools we were studying Administrative Law, Commercial Law, Industrial Law, Communications and Media Law and then we studied Community Law.
