On the occasion of the expansion of the EPLO headquarters with the emblematic building of Plaka, the Institute for Justiceand Growth organized a series of Scienti c Events having as key subject / central theme: “The Law as a pillar for Development”. Three roundtables were organized:The rst on 14.04.2016 on “The contribution of Law in the country’s Development” chaired by the former Prime Minister and President of the Council of State, Mr. Panagiotis Pikramenos (third from right). Dimitris Loukas, Vasilis Korkidis, Konstantinos Botopoulos and Aristides Chatzis were the main speakers.The second on 24.05.2016 on “Effective Justice and Development” chaired by the Vice President of the Council of State Mr. Athanasios Rados (fourth from left). The main speakers included: George Triantafyllakis, Professor of commercial law at the Law School of Democritus University of Thrace, Kyriakos Ekonomou, President of the Court ofProjectsThe Institute for Justice and Growth participates in the project “Building on ECLI (BO-ECLI)” involving 16 partners from 10 European Union Member States that aims to broaden the use of ECLI, the search engine of the European e-Justice and to further improve the accessibility of case law. The European Case Law Identi er (ECLI) is a human readable and computer process able code that can in principle be assigned to every judicial decision from every national or European court. Its aim is to facilitate unequivocal citation of judgments and to improve cross-border accessibility of case law. For more about ECLI please refer to the Projects section.The Institute is permanently in close co- operation with the Department of Technical Cooperation of the EPLO as well as withall the other units of the Organization and provides scienti c support and contribution to projects such as the “DG JUSTICE Open call for tenders No. JUST/2015// PR/01/0003 - Framework Contract forthe supply of Impact Assessment, Evaluation and Evaluation related studies; Compliance Assessment and Evaluation of Communication activities”, the project on the “Advanced training of national judges and prosecutors on the enforcement of EU competition law” etc.96 ACTIVITY REPORT 2016
