In September 2015 the EPLO expanded its headquarters inaugurating a new building of incredible cultural and historical value in Athens, in the area of Plaka, at the foot of the Acropolis hill, amidst the ancient columns and monuments, at the entrance of the Roman Agora.The historical building was built evenbefore the formation of the Greek state as its construction began before 1820 and started to be renovated in 2011. Today it is consideredas one of the most exquisite architectural landmarks of the area. It covers more than 1000 square meters and spreads over 3 oors.The interior contains ceiling frescoes andthe building has been of cially registeredat the “Ongoing Catalogue of the Listed Archaeological Sites and Monuments of Greece” by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, since 1995.The building was inaugurated on September 10, 2015 by the President of the Hellenic Republic Mr. Procopios Pavlopoulos and now hosts a wide range of the EPLO activities, together with most of its staff. Apart from of ces for the administration, its facilities include spacious conference and event facilities.Kolonaki premise. The other building of the EPLO, at the heart of the city of Athens,in the area of Kolonaki, is of neoclassical architecture. It is developed into 3 oors, 300 square meters and two small-scale conference rooms.It was inaugurated on November 3, 1997 byMr. Constantinos Stefanopoulos, then President of the Hellenic Republic and it currentlyhosts the Editions Of ce and the Of ce of the Director.Sounion premises. The EPLO has also premises in the area of Legraina in Sounion, Greece. The premises are situated near the bay of Cape Sounion, one of the most reputed provinces of Greece, overlooking the Aegean Sea.Standing on a plot of 32.500 square meters, the premises were designed with the aim of offering a working environment that promotes study and research activities, as well as an environmentally conscious and healthy lifestyle among the EPLO employees and its visitors.The facilities include a large scale conference hall with a capacity of 500 people and equipped with a simultaneous interpretation system of four languages, four seminars rooms with a capacity of 70 people each, accommodation facilities including a guesthouse of eleven double rooms and two suites, an open-air theater, a basketball court, a tennis court, a volleyball court, as well as an extensive garden of almost 30.000 square meters. In addition, the facilities include the European Public Law Library with over 35.000 volumes on public law, and the related eld of international, comparative and EU law, as well as Human Rights.The Sounion premises were inaugurated on November 28, 2003 by Mr. Constantinos Stefanopoulos, then President of the Hellenic Republic.150 ACTIVITY REPORT 2016
