Webinar on Public Procurement at the Time of COVID-19 Emergency

The European Public Law Organization (EPLO) participated at the first international webinar on “Public Procurement at the Time of COVID-19 Emergency” organized by the Institute de Investigaciones Jurídicas of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico (UNAM) which took place on Wednesday, May 6th from 9AM till 2PM (Mexico City local time).

The purpose of this Seminar titled “Public Procurement at the Time of COVID-19 Emergency" was to gather Administrative Law Professors from Europe and Latin America so that they can present and discuss national approaches to handle the COVID-19 scourge and impact on public procurement –particularly, in terms of the reasonableness and proportionality analysis of public policies and measures taken by each state to address this pandemic, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of emergency public procurement, and the economic disruption of public contracts in progress.

This was the first international academic activity in Public Law that gathered representatives from prestigious Latin American universities and renowned EPLO members for a common project.

The opening of this important activity initiated by the General Director of the Juridical Research Institute at the National Autonomous University of Mexico Prof. Dr. Pedro Salazar Ugarte, the renowned European Professor and Director of the EPLO, Dr. Spyridon Flogaitis, and Professors Miguel Alejandro López Olvera from the Juridical Research Institute of UNAM, Mexico, and Isaac Augusto Damsky from University of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Distinguished professors and EPLO members from France, Italy, Spain and Sweden joined this seminar, as well as colleagues from major Latin American public universities in Mexico, El Salvador, Ecuador, Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina.

The event was hosted by Professor Miguel Alejandro López Olvera, from Mexico, Administrative Law Senior Researcher at IIJ-UNAM, and Professor Isaac Augusto Damsky, from Argentina, also an EPLO member and Senior Tenured Professor of Administrative Law at the University of Buenos Aires.

The event organized by the Juridical Research Institute at the National Autonomous University of Mexico [UNAM] through its virtual classroom.

Enrollment was free and participants will be granted an official attendance certificate.
