Ana Maria Guerra Martins elected judge at the European Court of Human Rights

The Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) elected on the 2nd of October Professor Ana Maria Guerra Martins as judge to the European Court of Human Rights in respect of Portugal. Ana Maria Guerra Martins, Faculty of Law, University of Lisbon is a long standing member of the European Group of Public Law, the scientific council of the EPLO as well as the representative of Portugal in the BoD of the EPLO. 

Ms Guerra Martins, having obtained an absolute majority of votes cast, was elected judge of the European Court of Human Rights for a term of office of nine years which shall commence as from 1 April 2020.

Judges are elected by PACE from a list of three candidates nominated by each State which has ratified the European Convention on Human Rights.

The EPLO  congratulates Professor Guerra Martins and wishes success in her new duties.
