The EPLO implements a large number of programs funded by the European Union and other international donors, assisting governments and institutions around the world. The main areas of intervention comprise: governance, the rule of law, human rights, public administration, democratization, legislative approximation to the EU acquis, migration and sustainable development.

The position is located within the Circular Economy and Climate Change Institute of EPLO, which is responsible for the promotion of circular and sustainable practices, climate and environmental diplomacy and mainstreaming of circular economy in all policy areas.

The candidate will be involved in the INTERREG V-B Adriatic-Ionian project CRESCENTO - CiRcular Economy Skills enhancement NeTwOrk in which the Circular Economy and Climate Change Institute of EPLO participates as a partner.

CRESCENTO has two main outputs:

  • the establishment of an ADRION Transnational Cooperation Network on Circular Economy, and
  • the elaboration of a Strategy and Action Plan for the implementation of a Joint Master’s Programme on Circular Economy.

Core Functions and Responsibilities

Core Function

Support EPLO in raising competences and skills in Circular Economy, strategically relevant for a more Sustainable Adriatic-Ionian area, through the establishment of a transnational cooperation network on Circular Economy, identifying and engaging local actors from academia, research and mainly business world as well as public sector with a specific target on upskilling- reskilling. The candidate will represent a liaison to the business sector (if possible in domains like circular economy, sustainable tourism, green and blue economy).

Responsibilities

The candidate is expected to:

  • bring business perspective and assist in identifying the business sector needs for specific upskilling and reskilling services related to Circular Economy themes
  • assist in identifying the networking strategy to systematize the network accession, comprising the network goal, tools and activities, governance, membership, widening strategy and openness conditions
  • support in identifying local stakeholders from the business world and towards engaging them in the network
  • strengthen science-business collaboration
  • facilitating meetings and cooperation to maintain mutually beneficial relationships with the stakeholders
  • assist in promoting the future Joint Master’s among the stakeholders of the established network through training services
  • assist in the design of training services

 

Required Qualifications and Experience

Experience

  • At least 8 years of professional experience in the business sector (in top management positions)
  • Familiarity and professional experience in the areas of sustainable development, circular economy, sustainable tourism
  • Familiarity and professional experience in trainings
  • Familiarity and professional experience in projects funded by the European Union will be an asset

 

Education

  • University degree from an accredited academic institution in Business, Economics or Engineering
  • Computer proficiency in standard software applications (MS Office, etc.

Languages

  • Fluency (oral and written) in English is required

Competencies

  • Liaison skills including negotiating skills, developing and fostering relationships, getting people to understand others' points of view
  • Team Management and Leadership Skills: Ability to guide large groups effectively. Capable of promptly and effectively monitoring, coordinating and communicating strategic objectives.
  • Professionalism: Knowledge and understanding of concepts and approaches relevant to particular functional area. Ability to apply judgment in the context of assignments given, take initiative, plan own work and manage conflicting priorities. Conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments and achieving results.
  • Communication: Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills. Listens and communicates clearly and effectively, adapting delivery to audience.
  • Planning and Organizing: Sets clear and achievable goals consistent with agreed priorities for self and others.
