The EPLO participates in World Bank's LJD Week 2016

The EPLO participated in the “Law, Justice and Development Week 2016” at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington DC on December 5-9, 2016 with two representatives Ms Cheryl Novak DD for Education and mr A.De Maio Ass. Director for Technical Cooperation.

The LJD Week 2016 convenes a broad community of development professionals who use law and justice tools to battle poverty and boost shared prosperity. The theme for this year’s event was “Law, Climate Change and Development”.

Furthermore the EPLO co-organized a Session on the “The Human-Centered Business Model Project”, a project co-led by the World Bank, EPLO and Ca’ Foscari University, within the Global Forum on Law, Justice and Development (GFLJD). The project aims at developing and piloting an innovative, human-centered, model of doing business that considers – on an equal level of importance – the economic goal of for-profit entities with the wider integrity dimensions of social and environmental sustainability.

The Session presented the formal project proposal developed during the last 12 months, and involved a broad discussion on the key aspects of the Model such as the Guiding Principles, Legal Framework and Governance and Fiscal Regime. Mr. Andrea De Maio, EPLO Assistant Director for Technical Cooperation, delivered a presentation on the project.

The PowerPoint presentations of the Session panelists are available on the Global Forum website:www.globalforumljd.org/cops/human-centered-business-model .
