Kick off Meeting in Belgrade for the Twinning Project titled “Strengthening Capacities of the High Judicial Council and the State Prosecutorial Council”

The kick-off meeting of the project was held in Belgrade on 18 November, 2015 in the Palace of Serbia with Spanish, Greek and Serbian stakeholders involved. The Member State partners and the Beneficiary Country parties collaborated for the implementation of the event. This activity focused on achieving visibility as it marked the official start of the project as well as creating awareness about its objectives.

During the kick-off meeting the main results to be achieved during the implementation of the project were presented . Furthermore, presentations were given on the main issues of the project and its components targeting Serbian experts and high level decision makers who were invited in order to point out the importance of the project and the political importance given to its implementation. The main speakers were the Member State Project Leader, Ms. Rosa Ana Morán, Chief Prosecutor, Head of the International Legal and Judical Co-operation from the Spanish General Prosecutors’ Office and the Junior Project Leader, Mr. Panagiotis Giannakopoulos, Head of the Cabinet of the Greek Minister of Justice. In addition, presentations were made by the Beneficiary Country Project Leader, Mr. Aleksandar Stoiljkovski, Elected Member of the Serbian High Judicial Council and the Resident Twinning Adviser, Mr. Borja Jimenez, Spanish Public Prosecutor.

The event attended, among others, the Ambassador of Greece to Serbia, Mr. Konstantinos Economidis, the Head of the EU Delegation in Serbia, Ambassador Michael Davenport, the Ambassador of Spain Mr. Miguel Fuertes Suarez, while the Serbian side was represented by Deputy Minister of Justice Mr. Backovic.

The implementation of the program has been undertaken by a Spanish-Greek consortium with the participation from the Greek side of  the Ministry of Justice, Transparency and Human Rights and the European Public Law Organization (EPLO).
