Lecture by A. Gromyko on " Brexit and Trumpism" for the world

Two incidents of these recent days with global significance, namely "Brexit" and the election of Pres.Trump in the US, have changed the course of history. The prevailing opinion that this is  a result of the phenomenon called "populism” is not acceptable. Both incidents are results of the people's opinion within the United Kingdom and the United States that prove that there is defiitely something going wrong in the European integration and the globalization process.

This was the spirit of the lecture entitled "Brexit and Trumpism: Breaking the Mould?" that was given on Tuesday 4 April at the Plaka premises of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) by Prof. Alexey Gromyko, Director of the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences, grandson of an emblematic personality of the international diplomacy, Andrei Gkromiko, who served the Soviet Union as Foreign Minister for 28 years.

The lecture was made within the context of international lecture series in memory of the Greek scholar Manuel Chrysoloras (1355-1415), initiator of Greek education and studies in Western Europe, which have been established by the EPLO, since 1999 and were attended by a large number of politicians, ambassadors, diplomats, academics and judges.

The Director of the EPLO Professor Spyridon Flogaitis, presented the speaker refering to the boost that Chrysoloras gave to Greek studies in Italy and generally his decisive role during the early Renaissance.
